All Time Low - Monsters

We might be at an all time low and not able to leave our homes, but that hasn’t stopped the sun from shining. British Summer Time has officially began, and long, sunny days are on their way. What do we need to go with that? A banging soundtrack, of course.

It’s a good thing then, that All Time Low – the kings of summer-vibe pop punk – have teamed up with Blackbear – the creator of possibly one of the biggest summer anthems we’ll hear in our lives, ‘Hot Girl Bummer’ – to create what’s sure to be the song all pop punk kids will refer to as ‘the song of summer 2020’. Even if most of summer 2020 is spent with us sat in our houses playing The Sims and attempting to learn German or whatever language you’re (probably) going to give up on in two weeks.

“Strung out like laundry on every line”? It’s like they knew we’d have nothing to do but laundry this summer.

And luckily for us, there’s a whole album full of summer-vibe pop punk just like this – All Time Low released Wake Up, Sunshine last Friday 3rd April. Speaking of the decision not to postpone the release due to coronavirus, frontman Alex Gaskarth said, “We kind of deliberated over maybe not releasing April 3, and pushing back until things got a little more normal, but it didn’t feel like the right move. I feel like people need some new tunes, and I hope that this record can be cathartic for people and help people through this weird, wild time.”

A weird, wild time it is – but made that little bit nicer with the soundtrack we needed to help us through it. Thanks, ATL. Here’s to summer 2020, weird as it may be.
