The Daily SteelChair Shot: WWE, AEW, ROH (11/11/2019)

Wrestling veteran Dan Maff posted today a video of him signing a contract with ROH. Maff thanked the fans, the wrestlers he’s been in the ring with, and noted that this is the first contract he’s signed in professional wrestling. Maff returned to ROH for the first time in 14 years at their The Experience and Unauthorized shows earlier this month. He teamed with Marty Scurll & PCO at The Experience and defeated Jeff Cobb, Colt Cabana & Cheeseburger in a six-man tag match. Maff then lost an unsanctioned match to PCO at Unauthorized the next night.

Maff was a two-time Tag Team Champion during his first run with ROH. He held the titles with BJ Whitmer in 2004 and 2005. ROH’s website had indicated that Maff would be returning after his appearances at The Experience and Unauthorized: “Maff, a two-time former ROH World Tag Team Champion who appeared in the very first ROH show in 2002, wrestled in the main event on both shows over the weekend and clearly hasn’t lost a step. In fact, Maff made such a strong impression that ROH officials have already discussed plans to bring him back in the future.”

WWE RAW Superstar Sin Cara announced that he has requested his release from WWE. The veteran wrestler noted that he is grateful for the opportunities he’s received from WWE, but he feels like he’s stuck in a place where he’s not valued as an athlete or a talent.

He feels like he’s been loyal, respectful and a team player, and has waited patiently for the chance to show the world what he can do, but after all these years he feels like that chance isn’t coming while he remains with WWE. Sin Cara went on to thank WWE and the fans, adding that he believes the best years of his pro wrestling career are still to come.

WWE still have to grant his request, which is said to be very unlikely.

AEW today announced the Wednesday, January 15th, 2020, episode of Dynamite will air live from the Watsco Center at the University of Miami. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, November 22, at 12 PM (5 PM GMT).

This Wednesday on Dynamite, Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky will put the AEW World Tag Team Championships on the line against no other like AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara.

After Full Gear PPV, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed what Cody said the day before Full Gear during a media call, that the company want to have quarterly PPVs with the next one taking place in early 2020. Double or Nothing 2 will happen again on Memorial Day weekend (around May 23, 2020) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. All Out 2 will also stay in Chicago. Khan also noted the company wants to head to Canada and London next year.

Both Kenny Omega and Cody are not cleared for in-ring action after the injuries they sustained at Full Gear. Cody suffered a cut above the eyes that required 8 stitches and a costochondral (rib) separation. He should be back in a few weeks. No word on the extent of Kenny Omega’s injuries as he simply stated he was not cleared to TV on social media.
