At ROH’s Death Before Dishonor, on Friday night, Angelina Love became the new Women of Honor Champion by defeating Kelly Klein and RUSH defeated Matt Taven to become the new ROH World Champion. While RUSH was celebrating his win with his brother Dragon Lee and his father La Bestia del Ring, Taven turned him around to shake his hand as a mark of respect. Matt Taven’s contract with ROH is coming to an end on October 1st, which let people think he was leaving the company.

Things took a strange twist the hours after. CMLL posted on its website and on social media the following message (translated from Spanish): “CMLL has been the maker of the greatest figures in this sport for 86 years, characterized by its discipline and seriousness, that is why it announces that from this moment Rush and Dragon Lee cease to be part of our roster for not coincide with the commitment of Programming and Guidelines of the Company.”

As it seems, both wrestlers have been fired by the company due to not following programming and company guidelines. Dragon Lee expressed his surprise on his firing on social media, thanking the late CMLL’s owner Paco Alonso for the opportunities he had given him.

At Death Before Dishonor Fallout TV tapings the night after, RUSH was scheduled to team with Dragon Lee against Brody King and PCO but the match didn’t happen as RUSH was not medically cleared to compete. Matt Taven chose that to make things clear about his situation and announced he signed a new contract with Ring of Honor.

Dragon Gate Pro-Wrestling announced on their Facebook that Ultimo Dragon has officially joined the company in a senior advisor role. He will “provide invaluable coaching and training for a younger generation while continuing to compete in the ring when his schedule allows it.”

Ultimo Dragon, 52, has wrestled in several promotions like NJPW, Pro Wrestling Noah, All Japan Pro Wrestling, CMLL, and UWA. He was also in WCW in the ’90s where he was a two-time WCW Cruiserweight Champion as well as a two-time WCW Television Champion. He’s also a former 2-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. He had a stint in WWE from 2003 to 2004 and won the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship during that time.
