Southside Wrestling Closing Down And Merging With Rev Pro

As announced on owner Ben Auld’s Facebook page, Southside Wrestling will run its final show on October 26, celebrating at the same time its 9th anniversary. After that, the company will merge with Revolution Pro and still run shows in its English areas. Ben and Southside’s other two employees will all join Rev Pro.

According to some media and wrestlers, it was expected the merger would allow Rev Pro to inherit SWE’s “territory” in the Sheffield, Stevenage and St. Neots area, and talents working with SWE would begin working with RevPro’s roster. Staff from SWE would transition into new roles with Rev Pro.

Rev Pro was founded in 2012 and is one of the strongest UK wrestling companies, enjoying a strong resurgence as part of the IWGP Conception in alliance with NJPW, Ring of Honor, and Mexico’s CMLL. This Saturday, Aussie Open represented RevPro at NJPW Royal Quest and competed for the IWGP Tag Team Championship against Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa, aka The Guerillas of Destiny.

SWE was founded in 2010 and for nearly a decade. It has arguably had one of the strongest influences on women’s wrestling as well. The hopes are that with SWE’s talents coming in that RevPro’s women’s division will see a revamp and a reboot.

Former and current SWE talents, like Tegan Nox, Ivy, Ligero, Will Ospreay and Mia Yim expressed their regrets on social media. But, before this last show, fans will have the chance to attend Appetite For Destruction on September 7, with “talent from America, New Zealand, Australia and all your favourite British favourites.” On October 6, The Rascalz will be at SWE and Moose will make its debut with the company at Lock Stock& 3 Smoking Rascalz. More information about the show can be found on SWE website and social media.
