WWE have announced the wrestlers and matches for the 2019 edition of the King of the Ring Tournament.
The tournament will be taking place on next week’s Monday Night RAW and SmackDown Live. It will feature eight stars from both the Red and the Blue brands. The first round will begin next week the second round will take place on August 26.
The semi-finals will take place on September 9 and September 10 from Madison Square Garden in New York City. The finals will then feature RAW vs. SmackDown action, set for the WWE Clash of Champions pay-per-view on September 15 in Charlotte, NC.
The eight opening matches are as follows:
- Cesaro vs Samoa Joe
- Ricochet vs Drew McIntyre
- Cedric Alexander vs Sami Zayn
- The Miz vs Baron Corbin
- Kevin Owens vs Elias
- Ali vs Buddy Murphy
- Chad Gable vs Shelton Benjamin
- Apollo Crews vs Andrade
As you can see the competitors will be separated by brand until the finalist from RAW and the finalist from SmackDown take on one another for the chance to be in-ring royalty and brand supremacy.
This will be the first King of the Ring tournament since 2015 when Bad News Barrett won to become King Barrett.
