As announced a few months ago, NXT UK is currently in Donnington Park, at Download Festival, for a weekend of tapings, followed by more NXT UK episodes taped in Plymouth on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
A few NXT Superstars were invited to come, like NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler, NXT Champion Adam Cole, Matt Riddle and Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly. But unfortunately, O’Reilly was forced to stay in the USA due to a back injury.
The medical man told me my back is still hurt so unfortunately I won’t be able to attend @DownloadFest this year. Im sorry to all the great UK fans, believe me I’m gutted to be missing @Tool but at least now @rikbugez has an actual chance of winning the air guitar contest.

As NXT is taped, if he was on TV this Wednesday, O’Reilly in fact last wrestled at NXT Takeover: XXV event on June 1st. He participated in the Fatal 4 Way Ladder Match that saw The Street Profits capture the vacant NXT Tag Team Titles. Many noticed he was not in the best shape after that gruelling match. He fell back-first on the edge of the ladder at one point and was seen with a bruised and bloodied back once the match was over.
If O’Reilly appeared at Wednesday’s and Thursday’s NXT TV tapings from Full Sail University, it looked like he did not get physical during the angles he was involved in. The NXT episodes taped this week will carry the brand to next TakeOver PPV. There’s no word yet on when O’Reilly will be back in action, but he is scheduled for a match at NXT Takeover: Toronto II event during WWE SummerSlam weekend on August 10.
