When Sega’s Total War series started to make a game focussing on one of the most romanticised periods of world history, its creators, Creative Assembly, had some decisions to make. Total War: THREE KINGDOMS either had to stick rigidly to its commitment of historical accuracy, or meet the expectations of generations of Romance of the Three Kingdoms readers and turn the generals into mythical heroes.
Fortunately for fans of the series and followers of Chinese literature, Creative Assembly decided to do both. Romance of the Three Kingdoms mode presents the famous generals as lone warriors wielding powers that can change the tides of battle. Records of the Three Kingdoms has those same generals in a more realistically vulnerable form but flanked by bodyguards ready and willing to die for their lord.
Romance or Records, the choice is yours.
Total War: THREE KINGDOMS will launch May 23rd, 2019 for PC.
