The Killers have made their triumphant return with protest song, ‘Land Of The Free’, the band’s first release since 2017’s Wonderful Wonderful.
In a post on the band’s Twitter, lead singer Brandon Flowers describes how he began to mentally assemble the song after the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012.
“In the months that followed, America would be hit with an onslaught of more mass shootings of innocents, and too many examples of racial injustice to ignore.”
“After some self education and soul searching, I couldn’t help but sit down and commit how I was feeling into a song.”
The song illustrates the irony of the USA being the land of the free, whilst also being the country that has ‘more people locked up than the rest of the world’.
‘Land Of The Free’ is available to listen to now on all major streaming platforms.
