Little over a month from the release of new album, Resistance is Futile, Manic Street Preachers have today announced that they’ll be joining Guns N’ Roses for three dates of their upcoming European tour.

The ‘Not In This Lifetime Tour‘ will see the Manics join GNR in Berlin, Germany on June 3rd, Odense, Denmark on June 6th and Gelsenkirchen, Germany on June 12th.

This announcement follows Friday’s release of new single, Dylan & Caitlin.

The track features guest vocals from Catherine AD (aka The Anchoress), who released her brilliant debut album, Confessions of a Romance Novelist (produced by former Mansun front man, Paul Draper), in 2016.

The Welsh-born multi-instrumentalist is a fine choice for the Manics’ latest guest vocalist, continuing a long (and 100% successful) tradition of duets, which started in 1992 with Traci Lords on ‘Little Baby Nothing’, right through to Richard Hawley’s appearance on 2013’s ‘Rewind The Film’, and, of course, The Cardigans’ Nina Parsons brilliant performance on ‘Your Love Alone (Is Not Enough)’, which reached #2 in the UK charts in 2007.

As James Dean Bradfield explains, this latest duet is a “conversation between Dylan and Caitlin Thomas at the apex of their alcohol soaked relationship”. Nicky Wire adds, “the story itself rolls through their relationship – drinking, fighting and ended up broken by America.  The conversational nature of the lyrics lent themselves to a duet so we asked Catherine AD to provide the female perspective. She’s a hugely talented kindred spirit.”

This is the third single released from the Manics’ upcoming thirteenth studio album, Resistance is Futile, having released the massive ‘International Blue’ back in December, and last month’s ‘Distant Colours’ – a track which plays on the disillusionment of the ‘left’ of not only Bradfield’s youth, but the political themes that run deep in the history of the band.

So in case you missed it, you can watch the video (directed by Kieran Evans) below.

Last week it was also announced that the Manics would be appearing at this years Meltdown Festival. The long-running artist-curated music festival is celebrating its 25th year in 2018, and sees The Cure’s Robert Smith taking curator duties this time round. Deftones, The Libertines, Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Placebo, and The Psychedelic Furs are among the acts confirmed so far; with the Manics performing on Tuesday, June 19th – with support from The Anchoress.
