Hello and welcome to VultureHound‘s weekly news round-up, where we bring you the biggest and best news to come out of the film industry every Sunday.
We could start this week by talking about the death of Hugh Hefner, and how literally less than a week later, Brett Ratner (director of X-Men: The Last Stand) revealed that he had acquired the film rights to make a biopic about Hefner’s life story, and how the starring role would be going to Jared Leto (Blade Runner 2049, Suicide Squad).
But frankly, I believe we should instead turn our attention to another bit of news that surrounds the other cast members of Blade Runner 2049, namely Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling, and how…
Harrison Ford punched Ryan Gosling and people won’t stop asking them about it
So a funny thing happened on the set of Blade Runner 2049. When filming a fight sequence, Harrison Ford accidentally punched co-star Ryan Gosling in the face. And that moment was captured in a glorious photo that sprung up on Twitter:
This still of Harrison Ford accidentally punching Ryan Gosling for real during a Blade Runner 2049 scene is amazing. pic.twitter.com/3uKIxHo1AT

This photo and the accompanying story quickly made its way round the internet, and now, the pair are being plagued by interviewers everywhere as they demand to know what went down between the two of them.
Ellen asked Gosling about it:
Jimmy Fallon asked Ford about it:
Graham Norton questioned them both on it:
I could go on. There are so many outlets out there, each asking the same thing, despite the fact the original reveal came out almost a year ago.
Still, it’s fun seeing Harrison Ford give interviews.
Blade Runner 2049 is in cinemas now.
Justice League trailer release just in time for this segment
Moving on to actual news, in a timely turn of events, the new trailer for Justice League landed today. Take a look:
Although a lot of it features things we’ve seen before, there are some fun things to take away. Firstly, the introduction sequence featuring Henry Cavill gives us our first, non-promotional-image look at Superman in the film, even if it is just in a dream sequence.
And secondly, it feels so much lighter than previous trailers. While it does still feature bleak shots and dire situations, it continues pushing the fact that these aren’t the glum, miserable DC films of 2016. There’s smiles. There’s banter. There’s hopeful music.
Whether or not it’ll be any good is still anyone’s guess though. First reactions to Batman v Superman were overwhelmingly positive and we all know how that turned out.
Justice League flies into cinemas on November 17th 2017.
Bride of Frankenstein laid to rest once more
Remember that film The Mummy that debuted earlier this year? That Tom Cruise movie that featured Russell Crowe as Dr. Jekyll and promised to start off a new franchise of monster movies – a cross of sorts between the Universal Monster series we got in the mid-twentieth century and the more recent superhero cinematic universes we have today?
Well, as you may know, it didn’t do all that well. And now, the whole Dark Universe that was intended to follow may be going the way of Universal’s previous attempt at starting a cinematic universe with Dracula Untold.
Because although pre-production has already started, Deadline has reported:
‘Pre-production had gotten underway in London for a February 1 production start, but the crew has just been told to go home for the time being.’
They then followed up with a statement from Universal themselves:
“After thoughtful consideration, Universal Pictures and director Bill Condon have decided to postpone Bride of Frankenstein. None of us want to move too quickly to meet a release date when we know this special movie needs more time to come together. Bill is a director whose enormous talent has been proven time and again, and we all look forward to continuing to work on this film together.”
What this probably means is that they’ve realised that The Mummy did not do too well critically, and are starting to rethink the whole thing. Truthfully though, despite not having seen The Mummy, I’d love to see Javier Bardem as Frankenstein’s monster, so hopefully they’ll figure this all out.
The first part of the Dark Universe franchise, The Mummy is out on DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital Download from October 23rd 2017.
Tyrese Gibson kicks off about the fate of the Furious
Despite being all about ‘family’ there seems to be a lot of tension on the sets of the Fast & Furious franchise since Dwayne Johnson came onboard. Earlier this year, word of a row between Johnson and franchise-star Vin Diesel made it’s way around news outlets, and now another Furious star is stepping into the ring to face off against The Rock.
After the announcement that Fast & Furious 9 was being pushed back by a year to make room for a spin-off starring Johnson (and potentially Jason Statham), Tyrese Gibson has made his thoughts known in some long, jumbled instagram posts. But, despite their raging nature, they do reveal all the details you need to know, so I’ll pass the mic over to Tyrese and let him do the talking:
