Director Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) has revealed in an interview with Collider that the sequel to 2014’s sci-fi action film Edge of Tomorrow will be called Live Die Repeat and Repeat. He also confirmed that both Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt will reprise their roles.

Based on ‘All You Need Is Kill’ by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, Edge of Tomorrow was set in the near future with humanity locked in a deadly conflict with alien invaders known as Mimics. William Cage (Tom Cruise), a public relations officer with no combat experience, is trapped in a time loop of repeating the same day over and over again – the day of a key military operation that ends in humanity’s devastating defeat. Every time Cage dies, the day resets, but he remembers what happened – and with the help of legendary soldier Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt), he just be might be able to turn the tide of the battle and win the war.

Liman, who wrote and directed the movie, had this to say about the sequel:

“We have an amazing story! It’s incredible! Way better than the first film, and I obviously loved the first film. It will be called Live Die Repeat and Repeat. Tom [Cruise] is excited about it, and Emily Blunt is excited about it. The big question is just when we’ll do it. But it’s not an if, it’s a when.”

The title of the first film was originally All You Need is Kill, like its source material, but it was changed to Edge of Tomorrow for the cinematic release and changed once again to Live. Die. Repeat. for the home release.

There is no set release date for Live Die Repeat and Repeat as of yet.
