After the surprise 2014 hit that was Kingsman: The Secret Service, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that there would be a sequel.

Now, three years on, Matthew Vaughn’s goofily awesome spy series return to the cinema with Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Fortunately, the trailer forgoes the usual trend of comic-book movie trailers and doesn’t give us the entire plot of the film (see: the Avengers films, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Batman v Superman among others). Instead, it keeps things brief, only giving us shots that confirm which cast members will appear, both new and returning, and lets us know we’ll get the same sort of balls-to-the-wall zany action that was pretty prolific in the first film will appear with them.

All that, plus, a sort-of surprising reappearance from Colin Firth. We say sort of because on one hand, he’s been announced as returning since we first got word the film was being made, but on the other, [SPOILERS FOR KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE] he got shot point blank in the face in the first film by Samuel L. Jackson’s character [END OF SPOILERS].

When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, the Kingsman’s journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US. These two elite secret organizations must band together to defeat a common enemy.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle arrives in cinemas September 22nd 2017.
