Pop trio Dream Wife have released a new music video for their anthemic track ‘Somebody’, which defiantly tackles the ongoing sexualisation of women’s bodies. Last year the London based group released their debut EP EP01, earning them exposure on BBC Radio 1, Beats 1, BBC 6 Music and KEXP.
The music video, shot by bassist Bella Podpadec’s father, truly reinforces girl power, inspired by hints of 70s glam. Watch below.
Here’s what they have to say about the video:
“With the video for Somebody we wanted to make something direct and simple. The song is a ballad about the experience of living with a female body, in respect of this subject matter we focus on capturing a truthful performance that was both elegant and stripped back.
We drew inspiration from the male dominated iconography 70s glam rock; a time where men were able to explore their femininity, with the video for Somebody we are playing off this subversion with our own exploration on contemporary femininity.”
The band recently announced they’ll play their biggest headline show to date at London’s 550 capacity Tufnell Park Dome on Thursday 27th April, alongside a bunch of festivals. Find more information on tickets here.
