Portland indie icons The Dandy Warhols have released a video for their recent new track, ‘Thick Girls Knock Me Out (Richard Starkey)’. The release of the clip comes ahead of the band’s sold out show at London’s Roundhouse this Saturday (March 4th).
With more than a touch of classic Dandy Warhols about it (think ‘Scientist’ mixed with ‘Smoke It’), the track is a cool, psychedelic jam with some pretty easy to memorise lyrics. Should go down well at the Roundhouse this weekend!
Aiming to bring some much needed respite from the problems of the world, frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor talks about the origins of ‘Thick Girls…’; “This song is a story from about a decade ago and it all came together last year.” He continues, “Last year when nobody believed we would have the political insanity which is now unfolding. I hope this can be a moment of clever fun and a break from the big worries that are quickly piling up on our doorsteps.”
‘Thick Girls Knock Me Out (Richard Starkey)’ is the band’s first new release since last year’s album, Distortland – out now on Dine Alone Records.
