News Report: Could The Hardyz Be Leaving TNA Impact?

Rumours have been spreading like wildfire about what is going to happen with Impact Wrestling’s stand out stars, The ‘Broken’ ones themselves, Matt & Jeff Hardy. Not only was the possibility of them leaving the Impact promotion sparked by the news of their contracts set to expire in just a few days. But, it has been revealed today that The Hardyz online store, shopmatthardy.com, announced it would be shutting down.

With the lack of information regarding an extension to their contracts and the revelation of the closure of their shop, this has led to speculation that the duo would be leaving Impact Pro Wrestling to pursue work on another promotion. The most common promotion being brought up is where it all began, in the WWE. Since the WWE has it’s own online storefront, it would be necessary for Matt and Jeff to DELETE their page so that they can release Hardy branded merch via the WWE store.

Although the WWE is not the only place that the Hardys can call home. Given the popularity of their current gimmick, it wouldn’t be out of the question for other promotions to attempt to get a slice of the ‘Broken’ pie. During their time in Impact, they managed to gain attention with their crusade to earn tag team titles from all other the world.  The connection with other wrestling promotions, for example, Ring of Honor, have already let the Hardys do their own thing when they challenged The Young Bucks for their tag team gold. It’s even possible for promotions such as Lucha Underground or New Japan Pro Wrestling to take these guys on board and give them the platform to express their creative visions.

What might hold them back from returning to the WWE would be whether they would be allowed to retain creative control of their characters. If the writers want absolute control of the ‘Broken’ characters then it could seriously restrict Matt and Jeff’s vision for their roles that they have built for themselves. If they want to give full control to the creative team at WWE and trust their decisions, then that’s all good. But it’s doubtful the Hardys would want to give away creative control after all they have achieved so far.

Matt Hardy is even teasing about the whole scenario on this twitter, and I shall leave you with this tweet and the thoughts of what could possibly happen next for the ‘Broken’ Hardy Boyz
