DC movies veteran David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) will co-write the script for the planned Green Lantern Corps movie alongside Justin Rhodes, according to Deadline.

The movie, described as Lethal Weapon in space, will focus on two characters – Hal Jordan and John Stewart, marking the first time Stewart, the first African-American superhero in DC comics, will be in a live-action movie. The character was created by Dennis O’Neil and Neal Adams, and first appeared in 1971. Hal Jordan, created in 1959 by writer John Broome and artist Gil Kane was last played by Ryan Reynolds in the 2011 live-action Green Lantern film, which was a critical and commercial failure and is not in continuity with the rest of the DC Extended universe.

Little is known about the project at this point, apart from the fact that it will be a reboot. Green Lantern characters are not expected to make an appearance in the upcoming Justice League movie, slated for release on November 17, 2017.
