Gothenburg-based artist sir Was, the musical alias of Joel Wästberg, has today announced his solo debut album due for release on City Slang on March 10th.
Bringing together an eclectic mix of influences, from Jazz and pop to pan-African rhythms, Digging A Tunnel, sees the multi-talented Wästberg play nearly every instrument on the record; “Everything except the bagpipe and the harmonica… Those I captured with my iPhone,”.
His latest single, ‘In The Midst’, is a mix of soulful, electro beats accompanying Wästberg’s hazy, reverberant vocals. It’s also been given some visuals, featuring a rather regal looking sir Was, courtesy of director Fredrik Egerstrand. Watch the video, below
Speaking about the visuals for ‘In The Midst’, sir Was said: “I like to get cosy. When being home, just relaxing, I tend to wear really comfortable clothes. It just does you good. It makes you relax and forget about yourself. But this time I made an exception… I wore my clothes in front of the camera. Please enjoy”.
Digging A Tunnel is out on March 10th via City Slang. Pre-order the album, here.
