Canadian music icon Leonard Cohen has died aged 82. The announcement was made on the singers official Facebook page.

The short statement read; “It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away. We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries.”

His death comes just a few weeks after the release of his fourteenth and final album You Want It Darker.

An acclaimed poet, Cohen was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. Perhaps best known for his song ‘Hallelujah’, which appeared on his 1984 album, Various Positions, the ‘Godfather of Gloom’ will be remembered as one of music’s most iconic lyricists.
