The Hollywood Reporter brings word that David Leitch, one of the directors of John Wick, has signed on to direct the upcoming sequel to this year’s massively popular Deadpool.

Tim Miller, the director of the first movie, recently announced his departure from the project due to creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds. Composer Junkie XL (real name Tom Holkenborg) also left the project shortly after, citing Miller’s decision as his primary reason.

David Leitch made his directorial debut with the Keanu Reeves revenge thriller John Wick, which he co-directed with Chad Stahelski. The pair have years of experience as stunt coordinators and second unit directors and even have their own stunt company named 87eleven. Leitch will be working with returning screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Fox are also moving forward with plans for Deadpool 3 and are currently looking for a director. It is unclear at this point how the two planned sequels fit into their rumored plans for a reboot of the X-Men series as a whole.

Deadpool 2 will see the introduction of Cable and Domino and is currently scheduled for release in January 2018.
