Acclaimed composer Junkie XL (real name Tom Holkenborg) announced via his Facebook page that he will no longer be involved with the planned upcoming sequel to this year’s Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds. Just a little over a week ago, director Tim Miller stepped down from the project, citing creative differences.
Although the split was said to be amicable, Junkie XL lists Miller’s departure as his main reason for leaving the project:
“Tim was the driving force behind Deadpool and me getting involved in this amazing project. Deadpool without Tim at the helm just does not sit right with me and that is why I have decided not to be involved in the second chapter.”
Junkie XL worked on the score for the original Deadpool as well on Max Max: Fury Road and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – his upcoming projects include Godzilla 2, Justice League and The Dark Tower.
The as-of-yet-untitled Deadpool sequel does not have a set release date at this point and it is unclear if the departure of both the director and composer will delay the production.
