Sigourney Weaver to face off against Netflix’s Defenders

The head of Marvel Television, Jeph Leob, announced at New York Comic Con that Sigourney Weaver will be joining the Marvel roster as the villain on Netflix’s upcoming Defenders series.

Rumour had it that Weaver had signed up for a Marvel project, as she recently revealed in an interview with Wired that she had been working her way through the various Marvel movies for a reason she couldn’t reveal.

While it hasn’t been announced who Weaver will be playing, there’s still plenty of time before The Defenders hits. Before it airs, Iron Fist is due to hit screens on March 17th 2017, while another Marvel/Netflix production, The Punisher is currently being filmed.

Arriving at some point in 2017, The Defenders will see Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, Krysten Ritters Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist unite to save New York from a threat too big for any of them to defeat single-handedly.
