Fox have released a new trailer for the third season of Gotham, briefly teasing the upcoming storylines with snippets of villains fans can expect Gordon to face off against. The teaser arrives with a new poster and the official naming of the upcoming season as ‘Mad City’, following on from the first half of Season 2 being subtitled ‘Rise of the Villains’, and the second half ‘Wrath of the Villains’.
The trailer is set to an a cappella version of Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters, and teases what fans can expect from returning characters such as Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and more. Additionally, the trailer shows off new villains, including a monstrous being that may very well be the show’s rendition of classic Batman villain Killer Croc, seen earlier this summer in Suicide Squad. Season 2 set up plenty of storylines for Gotham to continue, including an onslaught of psychotic experiments released upon the city plus the teasing of The Court of Owls. It’s possible that like Season 2, the new season of Gotham could have two overarching narratives for each half of the season, meaning that The Court of Owls who are seemingly absent from the trailer could make an appearance after the mid-season break. Nevertheless, Gotham seems to be promising a plethora of content for fans to enjoy sooner rather than later in the upcoming season. While Gotham airs on Fox in the United States, Channel 5 have the broadcast rights in the UK, and are yet to set a premiere date for Season 3. Fox released a poster to coincide with the new trailer, which is featured below.
Gotham Season 3 premieres in the US on 19th September. The UK premiere date is to be determined.
