Bale and Isaac face relationship problems and the Ottoman Empire in ‘The Promise’ (Trailer)

Terry George, the director of the critically acclaimed Hotel Rwanda, is back for another crack at a film deeply rooted in a time of historical upheaval.

Starring Oscar Isaac, Christian Bale and Charlotte Le Bon, The Promise follows the adventures of young Armenian medical student Michael (Isaac). Travelling to Constantinople, Michael meets American reporter Christopher Myers (Bale) and his Armenian girlfriend Ana (Le Bon), and the three become embroiled in a love triangle. Matters are complicated further, however, as militants attempt to restore the Ottoman Empire to it’s former glory and wipe out the Armenian people.

Although there is no release date as of yet, the fact that Hotel Rwanda also dealt with nation-shaking events and issues such as genocide, and was met with such a positive reception means that this is most probably a film to keep an eye out for.
