The third installment in Sony Pictures’ Bad Boys series will be called Bad Boys for Life and is now scheduled for release on January 12, 2018, according to Exhibitor Relations. The movie was previously slated for a February 17, 2017 release, before being pushed back to June 2, 2017.

The original Bad Boys was a 1995 buddy-cop action movie directed by Michael Bay and starring Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. Bay, Smith and Lawrence returned for the 2003 sequel Bad Boys 2 – both movies were produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, who will also produce the upcoming third movie.

Joe Carnahan (The Grey, The A-Team) will direct Bad Boys for Life, from a screenplay by David Guggenheim (Safe House) and both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are expected to reprise their roles.

Sony Pictures has also scheduled a planned fourth movie, tentatively titled Bad Boys 4, for a July 3, 2019 release date.
