Three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep is in talks to join the cast of the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns, according to a report from Variety. Should a deal be reached, Streep will play Topsy, Poppins’s cousin, a supporting character from the P.L. Travers books that wasn’t included in the 1964 original.

Mary Poppins Returns will star Golden Globe winner Emily Blunt (Into the Woods, Sicario) as Mary Poppins and Emmy, Grammy, Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (‘Hamilton’) as a street lamplighter named Jack, with Academy Award nominated and Emmy and DGA Award winner Rob Marshall directing and producing.

Meryl Streep previously worked with Rob Marshall and Emily Blunt on the 2014 feature film adaptation of the musical Into the Woods, a role that earned her a record 19th Academy Award nomination.

Mary Poppins returns is set for a December 25, 2018 release.
