Three words conveyed over social media sent European fans of Amy Schumer into a tailspin, as she simply stated “I’m going abroad!”.
The standup comedian who has progressed into a writer, an actress, and a producer announced earlier today that she will be embarking on her first European tour to coincide with the publication of her new book The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo due for release on August 16
Fans of Schumer will flock to the eight cities located on the tour that being Dublin, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Manchester and concluding in London. The standup comedian will appear at the cities between the dates of August 26th and September 4th.
Longtime fans of Schumer will have witnessed her debut on Comedy Central during 2013 in the TV Series Inside Amy Schumer of which she is the creator, co-producer, co-writer and star of. In recent years she has been part of the successful movie Trainwreck, as well as hosting Saturday Night Live and performing her one woman stand up show Amy Schumer: Live from the Apollo last year.
No stranger to receiving accolades, during 2015 she was nominated for five PrimeTime Emmy Awards for her work on Inside Amy Schumer, eventually winning the Emmy Outstanding Variety Sketch in 2015. Also for Trainwreck, she received nominations from the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical Critics’ Choice award for best actress in a comedy series and was even named one of Time’s Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People.
She will be in the movie Thank You For Your Service, due for release later this year, which looks at how post traumatic stress disorder affects soldiers returning home from war.
Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday June 10, priced £35-£130 for London and £50-£100 for Manchester and Edinburgh.
