Syfy announced that a pilot for Krypton, a Superman prequel series set two generations before the destruction of the titular planet, has been greenlit. The series will follow Kal-El/Superman’s grandfather as he tries to restore the honor of the House of El and protect his world from chaos.

David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) will be the executive producer of Krypton and will write the script for the pilot along with Ian Goldberg. The pilot will be directed by Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders) and Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow) will serve as executive producer/showrunner.

Krypton will be produced by Warner Horizon Television and is is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, published by DC Comics.
