Belgian singer-songwriter Karolien Van Ransbeeck – aka Few Bits – entered the dream pop stratosphere in 2013 with a self-titled debut. Since then, Van Ransbeeck and her rotating lineup of collaborators have shared the stage with the likes of The Lemonheads, Vampire Weekend, and The War On Drugs. Later this year, Few Bits returns with its second album, Big Sparks. In the meantime, check out the latest single ‘Summer Sun.’

As far as song titles are concerned, ‘Summer Sun’ couldn’t be more of a fitting description. With its jangly guitars and driving, one-two percussion, the song’s perfect for a jaunt down some coastal highway on a warm summer day. Van Ransbeeck is clearly dreaming of some sun-soaked destination, as she gently croons, “I want to go anywhere and dream away/I want to taste the day, so take me there.” And like all the music she writes, she pulled little emotional strands from her personal life.

“I always write autobiographically,” she said in a statement. “I’m not really interested in writing from someone else’s perspective. A song doesn’t just have to sound good, it also has to express exactly what I feel. Otherwise I’d rather throw it away. I don’t come up with fiction. Every word, every comma, has to fit my head and my heart.”
