After an amazing debut that saw Fatboy Slim and Grace Jones perform on Southampton’s Common, it’s no surprise that Rob Da Bank’s Common People is back for another spectacular weekend. The Bestival co-founder will be bringing a taste of the renowned festival back to Southampton along with talent of well known and undiscovered artists alike to kick start the festival season on 28th-29th May.
“Common People was one of my funnest weekends festivaling in 2015, and believe me there was some competition! So, I’m really excited to have booked some corkers from Craig David to one of my all-time faves Public Enemy, and up-and-coming acts Jamie Lawson and Kurupt FM. Hope you can come and sing along with the Common People!” – Rob Da Bank
Southampton born Craig David will headline’s Saturday’s line up, while Duran Duran bring their 80s magic to close the festival on Sunday. Other acts you’ll find on the main stage across the weekend are Primal Scream, Katy B, Public Enemy, Gaz Coombes, Jamie Lawson and plenty more. Common People will also host a line up of DJ Sets, local bands, and specialist acts like Mr Motivator, an energetic man who never fails to pick up the mood.
Along with good music comes good food and activities, enjoy Common People’s “scrumptious street food” in between acts, and why not visit the Knitting Tent and Arts & Crafts for some creative down time. From Jam Jar Bar to Kid’s Play Area, this festival has it all covered – whether you’re celebrating the end of uni, enjoying a family weekend or simply chilling out with friends – there’s something for everyone.
Tickets for the weekend are available from the website and may also be bought from a handful of places in Southampton, Southsea and Portsmouth. More info here.
