The first trailer for Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment’s direct-to-video adaptation of the classic Alan Moore and Brian Bolland graphic novel Batman: The Killing Joke has been released. Check it out below!

Widely considered to be one of the best comic book stories of all time, 1988’s Batman: The Killing Joke offers a closer look at the Joker’s origin story, delving deep into the psychology of the character and his unique relationship with Batman. It’s a race against time as The Dark Knight’s arch-nemesis tries to drive Commissioner Gordon insane, while also recounting his tragic past as a failed comedian. The Killing Joke is the definitive Joker story, serving as an inspiration for many of the modern iterations of the character, including Heath Ledger’s legendary performance in 2008’s The Dark Knight.

Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprise their roles as Batman and The Joker respectively in this R-rated adaptation, produced by Bruce Timm. The movie has an as of yet unconfirmed summer release date.
