Tacocat – I Hate The Weekend (Single Review)

Seattle surf pop four-piece Tacocat, along with the announcement of their forthcoming album, have released an enticing single entitled ‘I Hate The Weekend.’ Brief yet charmingly exciting, this single has the usual splendid vocal harmonies laid on top of addictively toe-tapping percussion.

Words will resonate with anyone who isn’t bound by the conventional work week and who doesn’t let loose for the sake of their sanity once Friday night rolls around. “They were made for the working stiff…” At just over two minutes long the tune isn’t lyrically exciting and there’s definitely no confusion about the song title. Maybe it’s the track’s conciseness that makes it rather anthemic. Who knew hating something could sound so cheerful?!

By the looks of this single, Tacocat’s third album Lost Time will be the only thing that’s not a joke on 1st April. The album is set to be released via Hardly Records prior to a world tour that will be bringing them to the UK in May. You can check out a full list of dates here.
