Lock your doors and hide your mothers, for Guy Garvey is back in town.
You can expect the unexpected with his new single of Angela’s Eyes, quite a jazzy yet groovy vibe from his new song.
The music video is rather risqué and seductive, as Garvey is performing the song in what looks to be like some sort of cabaret/ underground club. With camera angles cutting to fingers fiddling on the keys of a piano to unzipping of tops, if your folks saw you watching this video you may have to explain yourself.
Perhaps it is the #feminism side of me coming out but I can’t help feel that it’s a little bit sexist. I don’t want to call the music legend that is Guy Garvey a misogynist but the video focuses the attentions on voluptuous ladies, as their emotions are heightened by a kinky hide and seek routine, as the curtains are opened and closed to reveal Garvey signing on stage.
With lyrics such as “I was heading for an early grave til I washed up on her tide” and “I’m a believer in a perfect girl in a world of brazen lies” I look at this video I think this is what is going to happen to Robin Thicke in 30 year time.
