Formerly from the critically adored The Beta Band, John McClean has been directing since his first short in 2009.
Now with his first feature he’s tackling that sure-fire crowd pleaser – the western. A Western these days is always something to be cherished, eschewing the effects driven sci-fi adventures for down & dirty prop guns and horses is occasionally welcome. The fact that Michael Fassbender heads up the cast as a mysterious gunslinger is something to be excited about.
Slow West follows the story of 16-year-old Jay Cavendish (Kodi Smit-McPhee) as he journeys across the American frontier at the end of the 19th century, in search of the woman he loves. Along the way he is joined by Silas (Michael Fassbender), a mysterious traveller with his own agenda, and is hotly pursued by an outlaw named Payne (Ben Mendelsohn).
