Hoping to expunge the memory of those… just dreadful Tim Story films of a decade ago, Chronicle’s Josh Trank is ramping up to show us his Fantastic Four on 6th August.

Things have been kept relatively under-wraps until now of the films main plot and even tone. Earlier teasers hinted at something much more cerebral and downbeat than we have come to expect from the franchise.

Now a new trailer released today reveals the full cast: Miles Teller as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm/The Thing – finally in all his glory.

The cast is evened out by the always watchable Toby Kebbel as Victor Domashev, the new generation of Doc Doom plus House of Cards/The Wire’s Reg E. Cathy as the group’s father figure and Tim Blake Nelson playing the standard government sleaze.

The new trailer fleshes out some more of the characters and crucially shows off a bit of the films humour which had so far been missing from the footage. A story in dire need of a re-boot director Trank seems to be striking a great balance of blockbuster, comic-book playfulness with much weightier psychological themes and great footage to boot.

Check out the fresh poster to boot.
