‘Wonder Days’ is the bands first studio album in six years, their highest charting record in the UK since ‘Behind Closed Doors’ peaked at number five way back in 1995.
The new album has scored the number nine spot on Sunday, warding off competition from a whole host of mainstream artists.
The group have also revealed ‘Resurrection Day’ will be their first single from the album. The track was written by Luke Morley about rhythm guitarist, Ben Matthews’ successful battle with cancer.
Adding to the recent revival, Thunder will be appearing as very special guests to ZZ Top at his huge Wembley show on June 24th. As well as a string of their own headline dates
Lead singer Danny Bowes spoke of the success of the new record. “We’re absolutely delighted with the way ‘Wonder Days’ has been received by both fans and the media around the world. To come back with a Top 10 album after six years away is so brilliant, it’s actually hard to believe. I’m covered in red marks where I’ve been pinching myself. We’re so fired up right now, the shows next month are going to be fantastic!”
Thunder’s headline dates can be found below:
