Why ‘Creature from the Black Lagoon’ needs a reboot

Creature from the Black Lagoon is an awesome film, even if it was made in 1954 it definitely has stood the test of time.

It should have been remade a long time ago, and when I say that I mean in the past ten years or so where horror films are actually more life-like and not cheesy.

Over the past few years or so there have been some great remakes…  The Hills Have Eyes,  A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Amityville Horror etc… And I honestly think it’s about time at least one film company should pull their socks up and start on a Black Lagoon remake.

With modern technology it could be brilliantly made, the creature could even look less like a man dressed in a very uncomfortable green suit.

But it feels as though because the film has become such a cult classic no film company will touch it, because it’s “perfect the way it is” blah blah blah.

But come on? Is it really? It’s black and white, outdated, and you could make a horrific looking creature to actually freak people out.

My favourite episode of Scooby Doo, when I was younger, was their take on Creature from the Black Lagoon and I can’t stand the thought that a Scooby Doo mystery is the most up-to date version of the Creature.

No, not having it. I’ll even play the creature if that’s what it takes, I just need to learn how to swim.
