Sick of hearing the same old Christmas songs sang by the same bands over and over again every year?

Christmas is my favourite time of year, and I love Christmas songs – I just tend to get bored of the same old versions, so I have compiled a list of the greatest Christmas Song covers. Enjoy, and be merry.

Jake Bugg – Happy Xmas (War Is Over)

Last year Radio 1’s Live Lounge released this. And at first I was sceptical… covering a John Lennon song? That’s some risky business, but Jake you did a good job. You brought a classic into a modern light… you cheeky tyke.

Coldplay – Merry Little Christmas

Gets you right in the mood for Christmas doesn’t it? This is one of my favourite Christmas songs, let alone as a stand alone cover.

U2 – Baby, Please Come Home

Personally, I think Bono could sing ‘I’m a wanker’ and it would still sound great, so this is a real treat.

Rufus Wainwright – Baby It’s Cold Outside

I used to hate this song, then I found a wonderful rendition of Alfie Moon and Kat Slater singing it, which lead me to this beautiful cover.

Otis Redding – White Christmas

Let’s end this list with the greatest of all covers, Otis Redding, ladies and gentlmen, with White Christmas.
