Sky1 has really upped its game in recent years when it comes to original content. So far their run of seasonal specials have been very impressive and thoroughly crowd-pleasing. Treasure Island, Neverland and Moonfleet have been ransacked from the classical children’s section, and who could forget them finally bringing Terry Pratchett’s beloved Discworld books to live action for the first time?
Now they have gone for a slightly darker route in their plans for Christmas 2014, for the celebrations this year will be tainted with a hint of murder. Ashley Jensen, Ricky Gervais’ co-star in Extras, has taken on the role of Agatha Raisen, amateur sleuth. She will be starring in Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death, her first foray into the world of murder and crime. Agatha is an early retiree, a middle aged woman who has worked her life to fulfill a dream of retiring in the country. Once there however, she manages to kill someone with a poisoned Quiche. Horrified, she sets out to find the real killer. The series was created by Hamish Macbeth scribe M. C. Beaton and will air Christmas 2014.
