Good Times in The Park Cancelled

If you’ve ever danced around Norman Jay’s Good Times Bus at Notting Hill Carnival, off your tits on happiness, you should sit down for this.  Because he’s borrowed the good times from Notting Hill, and spread them all over his brand new festival.

September might mark the end of the summer, but it doesn’t mean the good times have to end!  Set over three stages in Acton’s Wormwood Scrubs Park, Good Times in the Park takes community and carnival vibes and smushes them together.  Plus, it’s got a hell of a lineup.  Norman’s picked quite a list of movers and shakers, from Queen of Funk, Chaka Khan to drum and bass “alchemist”, Goldie.

And golly, there’s more.

The line up also includes Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B.  Lest we not forget, he was called a pioneer for giving “Black British music a soul of its own”.  Big beat booted and suited ska band, The Dub Pistols, are also playing with the the potential for the old slip ‘n’ slide with a bottle of Jack Daniels.

And don’t wet yourself with excitement please but MISS DYNAMITE-TEE-HEE will be there too!

There’ll be more iconic treats in store as the rest of the lineup’s announced.  There’s also a special place for rising stars in the Spotlight Arena, hosted by SBTV’s Jamal Edwards.

As well as music to make you shake your tail feather, Norman’s got nomadic food collective, Street Feast to make sure your feathers don’t fall out. And if you fancy a wander, look out for the carnival troups dancing around the park.  If you’re a group who’s got the outfits and the moves and fancy taking part, you still have time to get involved.  Email

And just before you go thinking that this is the perfect way to end your summer, it’s all for a good cause too.  All proceeds from the festival go to four charities Norman supports: Great Ormond Street Hospital, Damilola Taylor Trust, Prostate Cancer UK and CoppaFeel.

If you keep your eyes closed until September, you can keep pretending it’s summer.  Keep the festival season alive and let the good times roll.
