Coming October 10 2014 Destiny Ekaragha’s South London comedy Gone Too Far! is released.
The film is set in the Only Fools and Horses strong hold of Peckham and centres on Yemi. Yemi meets his long-lost Nigerian brother Iku. A culture clash of Crocodile Dundee propotions ensues as Iku’s African heritage and “unimpressive fashion sense” starts harming Yemi’s street credentials.
The film is based on the Olivier Award-winning stage play by British-Nigerian writer Bola Agbaje, first performed at The Royal Court in 2007. It is Ekaragha’s feature debut and features a cast of rising stars including Malachi Kirby, O.C. Ukeje and Tosin Cole.
Already receiving good buzz on the preview rounds, it was bestowed the Best New British Comedy at the LOCO London Comedy Film Festival 2014 with the director being nominated for Best Newcomer at last year’s BFI London Film Festival.
The film has now received a distribution deal through Verve Pictures. Of the partnership Ekaragha says “I’m delighted that Verve will be distributing Gone Too Far! – they have a fantastic track record of supporting first-time directors, and of working on bold and singular films, and it’s incredibly exciting to be able to share our film with the world.”
