Comic Con TV Round Up

Comic Con is the entertainment industries geekiest weekend. All the news from the biggest sci-fi, superhero and horror shows get revealed at this annual celebration of 21st century mythology. Here is the biggest TV news to come out of this year’s event.

DC’s newest TV superstar is the blonde, British, supernatural investigator created by Allen Moore (although Peter Milligan did most of the work that made him so popular).

I’m still a little disappointed that they’re not going with the original title of Hellblazer. Also, I guess I’m going to have to start watching Arrow to see what all the fuss is about with the DC TV shows. It looks to me like they’re all trying to do far too much with too little money. They all look a little ropey, like Dr. Who. (God, I’m going to get emails about that).

Speaking of Arrow, here is the new trailer for the third series.

As you can see Deathstroke will return as one of the main antagonists of the show, instead of just a recurring character. The series will also introduce Ras Al Gul, traditionally a Batman villian, to be one of the top bosses threatening Queen’s life and Starling City.

The Flash

The Flash didn’t get a trailer, so much, as a forty-five second clip that shows you just what The Flash is capable of. Although a lucky few people at the event did get to see the pilot for the new show. Here it is.

Oh, I’m sorry did you think I meant the pilot? No, I meant the clip. No news for the broadcaster just yet, so you will have to be patient.

Gotham also got a pilot preview at the event, but, once again, we only have the trailer to show.

Here we have the first proper look at the man who will become The Penguin. He seems not to be a spoiled rich kid, with a funny appearance, and a huge streak of vanity, but a bo-legged dweeb with a pointy nose. Looks like your typical geek loser desperate to try and show the world what he’s capable of.

The Simpsons/Family Guy Cross Over

To help celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Simpsons, they will be guest starring in an episode of Family Guy. Here are some of the clips from the show itself.

Now, going into this I didn’t think anyone was sure if this would be a Simpsons episode guest starring the Griffons, or the other way around. But, once I heard a rape joke, any doubt was wiped from my mind. But what I found really interesting about this little engagement, is that the show, which is a Family Guy episode in case you didn’t guess, is openly admitting the fact that it is a straight rip off of America’s greatest animation show. They cleverly use the signature beers of the show to illustrate that point. For the first time in forever, I’m interested by seeing where Family Guy is going with something.

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead has a new trailer to celebrate the announcement of Season 5. You can see it here.

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones has announced a whopping nine new actors to be cast in George R. R. Martin’s epic fantasy saga. Here they are for you to get IMDBing to make sure your new favourite character isn’t being played by some second rate Sy-Fy background actor.

  • Alexander Siddig as Doran Martell
  • Toby Sebastian as Trystane Martell
  • Nell Tiger Free as Myrcella Baratheon
  • DeObia Oparei as Areo Hotah
  • Enzo Cilenti as Yezzan
  • Jessica Henwick as Nymeria Sand
  • Rosabell Laurenti Sellers as Tyene Sand
  • Keisha Castle-Hughes as Obara Sand
  • Jonathan Pryce as High Sparrow

New Marvel Shows

Marvel haven’t been as fast out of the gate with TV shows like DC have. They’re probably more concerned with counting the Gold bullion their films have earned them. However things we did find out were, Lucy Lawless is being added to Agents of Shield and the directors of Winter Soldier will be helming many of the episodes for Marvel’s new series, Agent Carter. Oh, and Guardians of the Galaxy will be getting a cartoon show on Disney XD. Which I will love more than life itself.
