Editor David Garlick and VH Fashion Editor Claire Stapley were fortunate enough to be invited to the launch of ‘Hill Valley Stores’ setup by Secret Cinema. Hill Valley Stores acted as a theatrical pop up store to promote their Back To The Future production which is due to run from the 24th August – 31st.

Located in the quirky side of Shoreditch, the pop up store was home to vintage dresses, shoes, bow ties and a small hairdressers! This was open to us as well as a few others who had been invited to the pop up store.

With girls being transformed into glamorous 50s women with bold hairstyles and beautiful dresses, the store next door was re-vamped to be identical to BTTF’s ‘Lou’s Cafe’ where espresso martinis, alcoholic shakes and gorgeous food was being dished out its customers, with a small intimate dance floor towards the back of the Cafe.

Not only were the aesthetics designed to create the perfect Back to the Future experience, all the staff within the cafe and the pop up store were in character, including Marty McFly himself.

VH Fashion was introduced to an era not yet featured on the site, and it was fantastic to be able to be exposed to BTTF’s fashion in the flesh alongside having the luxury to try it on, if we wished! The amount of bow ties in the shop must have been a total of over 100, featuring every colour, pattern and material imaginable.

After spending a couple of hours alternating between both the shops, it was disorientating to be whisked back to 2014 and step back on to public transport after being taken back in time and treated wonderfully by all those involved on the evening.

If this what we got for a pop up shop then we cannot wait to see the big show starting in July. Get tickets while you can from www.secretcinema.org/tickets
