London-based alt-electro quartet Codes have announced the release of their new single Astraea on July 7 through Dust Devil Sounds. Originally from Dublin, Codes natural ability to manipulate deeply catchy electronic soundscapes has seen the band already build an impressive reputation in their home country. After releasing their debut album Trees Dream In Algebra on EMI Ireland, the band won critical acclaim from every major Irish music outlet, were named as having Phantom FM’s Best Album, Entertainment Ireland’s Best Band and received a prestigious nomination for the Choice Music Prize, as well as being tipped as one of Hot-Press Magazine’s Best Irish Albums of All Time.

Following performances at every major Irish music festival and tours with the likes of Keane and Delays, the band soon relocated to London to work on their follow up album AALTARS.

Now Codes are set to release the infectious single Astraea as the first single from the new album, due out this autumn. Produced by Codes own Daragh Anderson, mixed by Clint Murphy (Manic Street Preachers, 50 Cent) and mastered by Ryan Smith (Talking Heads, Battles) at Sterling Sound NYC, Astraea is a deeply impressive mash-up of electronica and industrial sounds, with soaring vocal harmonies, dreamy arrangements and a calculated cryptography of electronic beats, piano, glockenspiel. While still retaining the classic widespread appeal Codes are known for with their instantly hypnotic rhythms and analogue synth’s that permeate their sound.

Astraea will be available from iTunes on July 7th 2014
