After adopting London as their new home from Australia, Howling Bells have released three critically acclaimed studio albums and are set to release their fourth on June 2nd – ‘Heartstrings’.
‘Heartstrings’ features a number of singles from the band such as ‘Slowburn’ and recent single ‘Your Love’. The Indie-rock group have adapted a new style in recording the latest album, with an intensive ‘song-a-day’ process lasting just 11 days.
Front woman Juanita Stein stated: As a result, you become incredibly connected to the musical spirit of the band.”
“We loved every second of it”.
Previous albums from the Howling Bells have permitted them to travel across the world, with Las Vegas and Los Angeles destinations of choice in 2009 and 2011. Recorded in their adopted city of London, ‘Heartstrings’ is the first they have fully recorded in England.
Current single ‘Your Love’ has an atmospheric, anthem style vocal performance from Stein. Directed by the legendary Giorgio Testi (Blur’s ‘Under The Westway’), the video denotes a commanding, forceful performance by the band, leading to a catchy chorus that is sure to be sang around festivals and performances across the UK.
‘But most of all I miss, your love’ cries Stein with the vocal ability to attract empathy and sadness from their legions of fans. The single is sure to garner a new set of fans, with a headline tour across the country charting Sheffield’s famous ‘Leadmill’ and concluding with a show at London’s Scala on Tuesday 10th June.
Howling Bells have supported bands such as Coldplay and The Killers in recent years but are set to step into their own limelight with the headline tour. It is indisputable that the band will increase their reputation during 2014 and are very much a band to look out for in the future.
