Retired actor Bob Hoskins has died of pneumonia at the age of 71. The Finsbury Park actor and director was mostly know for his work in small British films such as The Long Good Friday and A Prayer for the Dying, but after an Oscar nomination for his work in the 1986 drama Mona Lisa he became a hugely successful Hollywood actor, working with people like Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis and Oliver Stone. He quit acting in 2012 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. He is survived by his wife, Linda Banwell, and four children.
Here he is showing a coiled intensity that erupts into a bout of violence, to which his character cannot help but bring an element of humor.
