Nina Nesbitt – The Apple Tree (EP Review)

She has been rumoured to be dating Ed Sheeran, and now the 17 year old half Swedish, half Scottish singer Nina Nesbitt has been thrust into the limelight through her talent alone. She began as a YouTube sensation with over 500,000 views on her version of Example’s track ‘Stay Awake’ and even Example himself decided to take her on his tour as a support act in 2011.

She has been compared to Laura Marling and Kate Nash, and it’s an understandable resemblance as Nina is quirky, unique and uses witty and warm lyrics in her songs. She has released her EP The Apple Tree which has already climbed into the top ten iTunes chart.  The songs are naive, original and memorable, and she has such an awe about her. She reminds me a little of KT Tunstall, she has an edge, and I found her EP catchy and fresh, her songs are heartfelt and that is shown in The Apple Tree.

At Just 17, she is already so talented and I expect there is a lot more to see from Nina Nesbitt, and that we can look forward to an exciting year for her.
