Ones to Watch: Gaoler’s Daughter

Gaoler’s Daughter: This London based band of merry men are amazing live and on record! With the recent release of their “Rhyme and Treason EP”, recorded in East London’s wonderfully awesome Urchin Studios.

Although do not be deceived by the high spirited performances and gallant movements from JOHN STERRY (vocals/guitars), ALEX MAHOOD (Guitar), ALFIE AMBROSE (Bass) and BEN HUTCHINSON (Drums); lyrically their songs often tell tales of menacing moments in time (“Shark In A Sink”), and strangely seductive situations (“Famous Green Dress”), Gaoler’s Daughter are also able to show a softer side, with the raw yet manic “Anyone”.

Over the past couple of years Gaoler’s Daughter, have paid homage to their influences; hinted passionately at the remnants from previous bands and refined their sound to create rich, luxurious and full of bodied songs, bursting with energy and texture.

“Angry Eyes”, a song that I have constantly on repeat
