TRACK OF THE DAY (15/06/17): EVERYTHING EVERYTHING – CAN’T DO

Everything Everything are everywhere, everywhere with their new single ‘Can’t Do’, taken from their upcoming fourth album A Fever Dream.

Stemming from issues with lack of confidence (been there) but concerning the struggle to find your place in the world (ditto), frontman Jonathan Higgs says; “’Can’t Do’ is about trying to bend to the world and fit into it. Nobody is normal, nobody knows what normal is. ‘I can’t do the thing you want’ – we don’t care we just want you to dance.”

And dance you will…

Down-beat lyrics twinned with an upbeat melody fools you into whistling along to an existential crisis. Although still very much a rock band, Everything Everything employ minimal guitar noodling over 90’s House synths, syncopated beats and Higgs’ falsetto/guttural snarl. Sharing the same sensibilities that converted new fans with 2015’s critically acclaimed Get To Heaven, ‘Can’t Do’ continues to create a sound which is unmistakably their own.

A Fever Dream is produced by James Ford of Arctic Monkeys and Foals fame and is due for release on August 18th via RCA.
