The Wrestling Forecast – 22nd to 28th May 2017

Still cramming in more shows in the first few months of their existence than some companies manage in a regular year, Lucha Forever travel to the Birmingham H Suite on 25th for Catch Me Outside. Matches announced include Matt Riddle vs “The Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne, New Zealand’s Bea Priestly against Damian Dunne, Kay Lee Ray taking on Alex Windsor, Jinny meeting Australian Toni Storm and “The Kiwi Buzzsaw” Travis Banks defending his Lucha Forever Championship against the challenge of David Starr. In addition Mark Haskins, upcoming star Chris Ridgeway, WWE UK Title Tournament competitor Dan Moloney and veteran cruiserweight Bubblegum will clash in a 4-way number one contender’s match to determine who gets the honour of challenging for the Lucha Forever title at the next show. Also scheduled to appear are Kip Sabian, Kelly Sixx, Jimmy Havoc, Clint Margera, The Hunter Brothers and Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven and WWE UK Champion Tyler Bate).

PCW present a double-header of events, beginning with a show at Circle Bradford on 25th and then back to their traditional home of Club Evoque in Preston on 26th. Confirmed for these shows are CZW stars Desmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz, as well as current PCW Tag Team Champions The UK Hooligans, Bubblegum, former ECW ring announcer and legend Joel Gertner and reigning PCW Heavyweight Champion Iestyn Rees.

Yorkshire’s Phoenix Events return to the Parklands Sports and Social Club in Doncaster on 26th for I Will Be Heard, where Joseph Connors takes on King Dangerous and CJ Banks and Dave Deville go to war over the Phoenix Heavyweight Championship. On the undercard, Filthy Gorgeous (Rob Sharpe and Kyle Kingsley) take on The Hunter Brothers, Alan Kay defends his Phoenix Rising title against Tommy Nova, Kyle Bradders and “The Killer” Sam Kenny, Joey D faces “Ryvacious” Ryan Lee and LJ Heron clashes with Dom Black.

Majestically straddling the 27th, 28th and 29th, PROGRESS weigh in at the end of the week with Chapter 49, their annual Super Strong Style 16 tournament. Names announced at the time of writing include Travis Banks, Trent Seven, Jack Sexsmith, Pastor William Eaver, Jimmy Havoc, “Liverpool’s No.1” Zack Gibson, Jimmy Havoc, Jeff Cobb and debuting luchador Flamita, veteran of both AAA and Dragon Gate, who promises to add an element of unpredictability to the already chaotic proceedings.
