Paul Franklin – Director of ‘The Escape’ (Video Interview)

The Escape marks Paul Franklin’s directorial debut after winning numerous awards, including two Academy Awards and two BAFTAs for his work as a Visual Effects Supervisor on Christopher Nolan’s Inception and Interstellar. His other impressive VFX projects include The Dark Knight, Captain America: Civil War, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Successful producers in their own right, Jessica Parker and Jessica Malik joined forces to found Pari Passu Films in 2011, partnering with Steven Schneider’s Room 101 [Paranormal Activity franchise] to executive produce Estranged, which premiered at FrightFest 2016. Additionally, Pari Passu Films co-owns a production company with actress, Gemma Arterton [Quantum of Solace], and are currently developing a number of film and television projects.

Also joining the talented crew is Composer Andrew Kawczynski, who has often collaborated with Hans Zimmer on majestic scores such as Inception, Interstellar and Inferno, and Oscar and BAFTA nominated Cinematographer, Michael Coulter [Love Actually, Notting Hill, Sense and Sensibility.

Julian Sands is a familiar face onscreen, having starred in critically acclaimed films such as A Room with a View, The Killing Fields and Leaving Las Vegas, alongside Nicolas Cage. His television credits include 24 and Gotham. Art Malik, playing Kellan, is also no stranger to film and television, known for his work in BBC’s Sherlock, Homeland, True Lies, The Living Daylights, and David Lean’s Oscar winning A Passage to India. Award winning actress Olivia Williams has a number of impressive credits to her name, including The Sixth Sense, Rushmore, An Education, Map to the Stars, and ITV’s The Halcyon. Rounding off the respected cast is BAFTA winner, Ben Miller who is best known for his work on Johnny English, BBC’s Death in Paradise and who will soon be seen in Paddington 2.  

The Escape’ premieres at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival on April 20th.
